We took Andy to see the urologist Thursday. He says Andy will need outpatient surgery but he won't do it until after he is older than 3 months. We were very disappointed to hear this. We are very thankful this is a normal procedure. Things could always be worse.
Andy has a hydrocele in the left testicle, which means there is a hole in his abdomen leaking fluid into the testicle. After looking at him, the urologists thinks the right side is starting to do the same. So we need to keep watching it and taking him to his "well baby" visits. If it does get worse he will be able to do both sides at one time. We can put the surgery off for a few months but it will have to be done. We are praying for God to heal this up so he won't have to have surgery. We've been through this before with Abby and it's definitely no fun at all!
Some hydroceles go away. If this had been there at birth we would just keep an eye on it and it would probably absorb into the body. Since this is showing up now it won't go away (so the dr says).
Please pray with us that little Andy won't have to go through this and that it won't develop into something worse requiring emergency surgery.
