Well it's been a crazy few weeks around here as well. We've had Share-A-Thon at the radio station with a cookout, outdoor concert and inflatable games, Halloween, my parents arrival, meet & greet w/ JJ Jasper and his family and sickness at our house.
Share-A-Thon was a great success with listeners giving over $38,000.00 to the station and several listeners came out to enjoy our cookout and outdoor fun. That was an especially tiring week for me because Tom left before sun up and came home after sun down.
Mom & Dad arrived from TN on November 3rd. We've enjoyed spending time with them and watching them play with their two grandchildren. (Seems weird saying 2) I'm praying Andy will finally remember who Gran Gran & Pa are after getting to spend a couple of months with them. They plan on leaving after the holidays. They have sat up camp not too far from here. Mom hurt herself after one day of being here. Something fell from above in the camper, hit her nose and blacked her eye.
I took Abby to a Halloween festival at a local church. She had a blast playing in the inflatables and games they had as well as a petting zoo. She didn't dress up because she wanted to bounce in the inflatables. Saturday she was sick and I took her to the Dr. w/ a severe sore throat (not strep). Tom took her on a date to a Japanese steakhouse and then trunk or treating at another local church. She dressed up as Rudolph. She actually had planned on being Hanna Montana and did actually dress as Hanna at school. Since it was so cold here and Andy was sleeping (time change has him confused) we waited to dress him up on Sunday for pictures.
Last Saturday JJ Jasper and his family came from Tupelo, MS. JJ was in a couple of weeks ago for an event. This was the first time we've seen the entire family since Cooper was killed a few months ago. It was so good to see them. They still have many hard days and have recently moved back to the log cabin they built a few years ago. Melanie said it was a "bittersweet" move. We had a great turn out for the meet & greet. Many listeners enjoyed sharing stories with JJ and eating food provided by a couple of local businesses. Abby really enjoyed seeing Sadie again. They had a blast together last Summer. Please continue to pray for this precious family, especially during the upcoming holidays.
Abby got her first report card in K and received an awesome report. We're so proud of her. She's growing up so fast! She's having a hard time dealing with some of her "girlfriends". She's been telling me of one girl getting on her nerves who is constantly talking on the bus (sound familiar here at home) and she's having trouble sharing with a neighbor. Her heart is so tender and she doesn't want to hurt anyone's feelings. It's hard learning how to handle all these little problems that seem so big to her.
Abby has been a wittness to her neighbor Hailey (also 6). Abby always prays before meals. Hailey says her Mom doesn't allow praying at her house. Abby has been talking about God with Hailey. Today I heard Hailey ask Abby if Jesus was a boy or girl! (I couldn't believe it! Boy, we've lived such a sheltered life.) Abby told her Jesus was a boy and that if you believe in Jesus with all your heart you could go to heaven. Abby is always wandering if people she knows are Christian. She's been asking a lot of questions lately. Tom & I are praying for her Salvation as well. It's hard to explain to a 6 yr old how Jesus comes into your heart. She knows she loves God right now and that He loves her.
Andy is getting bigger every day. He can set up (with help) and play with his toys in the floor. He is really enjoying this time of adventure! When you stand him in your lap, you can tell he's beginning to hold his own. He enjoys eating tremendously and gets so frustrated if we can't get his food to him quickly. You should hear him grunt! He loves everything except green peas. We gave them a second try the other day and they didn't break him out although they were organic. Time is flying so quickly. Before we know it he will be walking and he hasn't even started crawling yet. I can't believe he's 7 months old now.
Tom & I have been continuously sick w/ this cold & sinus stuff. I guess it's mainly allergies. Everyone out here says out of towners have them. The wind is constantly blowing here which makes things worse. Tom has been working long hours at work and it makes for really long days here. I am going to start working a few hours a week again at the radio station since Mom & Dad have offered to watch Andy & Abby. I'm thankful they can spend some time together.
